Research Funding Opportunities
The Research and Grant Institute of Ghana (ReGIG) is supporting Ghanaian researchers to partner with their counterparts in other regions and countries to participate in the funding opportunity announced by the Belmont Forum, an international partnership that mobilizes funding of environmental change research and accelerates its delivery to remove critical barriers to sustainability.
The African Regional Call (ARC) initiative of the Belmont Forum was undertaken in response to the African Union’s climate, environment and sustainability goals and priority areas for Agender 2063. The National Research Foundation, South Africa (NRF) spearheaded the development of the Collaborative Research Action (CRA) for the ARC 2024 to address knowledge and innovation gaps in key thematic areas for Agenda 2063 as follows:
✔ Area 1 – Water – Energy – Food – Health Nexus
✔ Area 2 – Pollution
✔ Area 3 – Disaster Preparedness, Responsiveness, and Recovery
A cross-cutting issue that was identified to warrant education and awareness across the thematic areas was green and blue economy. This should be incorporated into the proposals.
ReGIG will provide in-kind support to Ghanaian researchers to collaborate with their colleagues on the call. The support include:
✔ Facilitation of meetings (e.g., online via zoom meetings and zoom webinars)
✔ Study materials, technologies, or components.
✔ Partner search
✔ Printing and stationary
✔ Use of facilities (e.g., Meeting/Conference spaces)
