Professor Charity Akotia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, School of Social Sciences, University of Ghana. Prof. Akotia holds a Bachelor of Arts and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Ghana, and a Master of Arts in Psychology from the Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada. As a specialist in Social/Community Psychology, Prof. Akotia has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, books, and has won national and international competitive grants. She has consulted for several reputable institutions in Ghana and also serves as an external examiner for several Universities both in Ghana and some foreign Universities including the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Stellenbosch University, in South Africa. She is also on the Editorial Boards for several local and international journals. Her researcher area in suicidal behaviour and prevention. She is currently the National Representative for the International Association for Suicide Prevention.
