The Research and Grant Institute of Ghana, on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, participated in a stakeholders consultative meeting to discuss the mental health and well-being of young people in Ghana as part of the Grand Challenges Canada’s Global Mental Health Programme across 13 priority countries, which includes Ghana.
The University of Ghana’s School of Public Health, in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, hosted the stakeholder engagement. The project was funded by Grand Challenges Canada through the Africa Academy for Public Health.
The project seeks to understand and generate “system awareness” about the mental health and well-being needs of young people in Ghana, examine the drivers of mental health and vulnerability to risk, and identify gaps and opportunities within the system.
One of the many methods this project is employing is stakeholder engagement with selected individuals and agencies to generate critical evidence on mental health issues, identify gaps and potential interventions to reduce health risk vulnerabilities and promote the overall well-being of young people.
